Mission California is a network of churches investing in church planting across the state. When your church partners with us, you’re not writing a check to an organization. You’re walking alongside real planters in real cities, helping them build gospel-centered churches where Jesus is least known.
Stay Connected to the Work
Partner churches receive quarterly updates from the planters you’re supporting. You’ll know their names. You’ll see their faces. You’ll pray for them by name. This is not a line item in your missions budget. This is a relationship.
Join a network of friends
As a partner church, you join a community of lead pastors across California who share your heart for the unreached. Regional gatherings, shared resources, and real friendships with pastors who are in the work. Yearly dues is $2500 a year to help cover operations of the network, planter development, MissionCA Regional events and church resources.
Joe Jewell leads Vintage Church in Livermore, where he and his core team gathered for the first time on July 27, 2025. It's a young plant, but the mission is already clear and bold: for God's glory, for Livermore's good. They already run community groups, a men's ministry, and Alpha, alongside a real discipleship pathway, and they have a planter of their own already in the pipeline.

How do you decide which planters to support?
Every planter in our network is someone we know personally. We look for calling, character, and competency. We also look for planters who are going to the hardest places in California, the cities and communities where Jesus is least known. Our board reviews every grant application and every planter relationship.
Can I choose which church plant my gift supports?
Yes. You can give to a specific church plant by name, or you can give to our general church planting fund and we’ll deploy it where the need is greatest. Either way, 100% goes to the field.
Can I join this if my church is already part of a denomination or network?
Absolutely. Many of our partner churches and planters are part of existing denominations and networks. Mission California is not a denomination. We are a network of friends. Your church can partner with us and stay exactly where you are.
How is Mission California different from other church planting networks?
We are Friends on Mission. That is not a slogan. It is how we operate. Every partnership begins with a personal relationship between pastors. We don’t run programs or assign planters to cities. We walk alongside the people God has already called and give them what they need to succeed. We are currently supporting 18 church plants and growing from 13 to 30 partner churches by the end of 2026.
How does Mission California work?
We operate through four expressions: Friends on Mission (relational partnerships), Regional Networks (local pastor gatherings), High-Potential Planters (identifying and investing in church planters), and Resourcing (deploying grants, coaching, and network connections directly to planters).

Where does my donation go?
100% of church planting grants go directly to planters: salary support, launch events, venue costs, and ministry materials. Mission California has deployed over $1M in church planting grants across the state.
What cities does Mission California serve?
We serve communities across the entire state, with current church plants and partnerships in San Francisco, Berkeley, Oakland, Santa Clara, San Jose, Los Angeles, San Diego, Fresno, Livermore, Sacramento, and beyond. Our goal is 30 partner churches by the end of 2026.
What is the relationship between Mission California and the California Church Planting CO-OP?
Mission California is the new name for the California Church Planting CO-OP. Same mission, same team, same theology, same heart. The name changed to better reflect what we do: we are on a mission for California.
What does ‘Friends on Mission’ mean?
Friends on Mission is our identity phrase. It describes who we are: pastors and churches who are friends first and partners second. Every relationship begins with a conversation, not a contract. It is how we have always operated, and now it is how we introduce ourselves.
How is Mission California funded?
We are funded by generous partner churches and individual donors who believe in planting churches where Jesus is least known. We also receive designated gifts for specific church planters and projects.

Romans 15:20-21: ‘It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that those who were not told about Him will see, and those who have not heard will understand.’
